Later this month Sitges will come alive for the annual Carnaval.
Carnival is a Western Christian festive season that occurs before the liturgical season of Lent. The main events typically occur during February or early March. Carnival typically involves public celebrations, including events such as parades, public street parties and other entertainments, combining some elements of a circus. Elaborate costumes and masks allow people to set aside their everyday individuality and experience a heightened sense of social unity.
More than 250,000 people flock to Sitges for a week of vibrant and colourful festivities. Sitges is just over 30 minutes by train from Barcelona and is a picturesque and historic town, its Carnival is not to be missed!
The Sitges 2020 Carnaval will be held from February 20 to 26, which you can enjoy the incredible celebrations and shows of colours, costumes and dancing in a wonderful setting on the Mediterranean coast.
